About the Colon
The main functions of the large intestine are the formation and elimination of waste and the absorption of water and minerals.
Depending on the number of meals eaten, a healthy colon will usually rid the body of waste 2 to 3 times per day. It also carries out the function of promptly removing toxins and other waste materials from the body, as if allowed to remain, these toxins could give rise to many health problems.
Although our diet (including allergies and sensitivities) is often a key factor, things such as lack of exercise, stress, travel and illness, all have an impact on the function of the colon, and the process of digestion in general.
